Maranatha Announces Building Program

Maranatha Ministries recently kicked off a building program designed to raise enough money to complete the purchase of 9 1/2 acres of land in Guilderland and construct a 10,000 sq. ft. building to house a 300 person sanctuary, 7 class rooms, fellowship hall, kitchen, and Pastor's office.

"We're hoping to be able to break ground sometime this spring (2006) and we'd like to be in and operating in about a year," said Pastor Frank. "It's a steel building so the shell should go up rather quickly and then it's a matter of completing the interior."

The project is being presented in two phases, first the sanctuary, then the education wing. The goal, according to Pastor Frank, is to finish the sanctuary in the first year so that services can begin to be held while construction on the education wing continues over the next year. "We'd like to be completely finished in 2 to 3 years," said Pastor Frank. "I think that gives us plenty of time and is not applying unrealistic expectations on our workers."

The location of the property is ideal in that it is just 1 mile off exit 25 of the New York State Thruway. "Since Faith Temple of Voorheesville and Maranatha Ministries of Schenectady merged, we're now focusing our outreach efforts on the entire Capital Region of Schenectady, Albany, and Troy and creating an identity in the community as the Pentecostals of the Capital Region," said Pastor Frank. "The location of the property serves this concept perfectly. The furthest outpost, which is Troy, is only 20 minutes away."

Using the highway system that brings the Capital Region together, I-90, I-87, I-890, and I-787, Maranatha Ministries will be only 6 minutes from downtown Schenectady, 10 minutes from Colonie Center, 15 minutes from downtown Albany, and 20 minutes from downtown Troy.

"There's not a doubt in our minds that God has opened this door for us and for that we are thankful," said Pastor Frank. "Many of the local businesses have already seen the advantage of becoming "Capital Region" oriented instead of local community oriented. Capital Region Wireless, Capital District YMCA and Capital District Physicians Health Plan are just a few of the many businesses that have either merged or started out with a Capital Region concept. In fact, if you check the phone directory, there's almost four full pages of businesses using the words "Capital Region" or "Capital District" in their titles. If all these businesses are doing it, there's a reason. It's time the church does it also."

Anyone interested in making a contribution to the new building can contact Pastor Frank at 518-388-8411 or by email at pastor@mmchurch.com. All donations are tax deductible and 100% of all donations will be used on construction.
